3Mile Christmas Update 2021

Happy December! Hope you’re looking forward to a relaxing end-of-year break. We’re closing the year with a few updates and reminders about the coming holiday period. This newsletter update covers:

  • Member Spotlights

  • Why Co-Working is Beneficial for Mental Health

  • Ka Pai Carterton Spotlight

Introducing Tinaka

You’ll find Tinaka at 3Mile on a Friday smashing out some admin work for her remote job.

Tinaka comes to 3Mile because she lives almost entirely off-grid which makes working from home a little tricky. She loves coming in because 3Mile has everything she needs - heaps of space, multiple meeting rooms and speedy wifi. The hub-type setting of 3Mile is one of her favourite parts of co-working because no one wants to work in isolation!

Tinakas favourite shop in Carterton is the St Vinnies shop. It has a wide range of things and they serve the community really well.

 Introducing Odette

Odette is 3Mile’s social media marketer. You’ll find her hosting every second Friday working on Digital Cactus or in and out during the week capturing some content.

Odette loves the vibe of 3Mile. The people are friendly, the wifi is fast and the coffee is fresh. The facility is such an asset to the Wairarapa community and is filled with so many interesting people who are always up for a yarn.

Odette frequents Finom when she’s working from 3Mile, so that would hands down have to be her favourite shop in Carterton. Can’t go wrong with a pesto and feta tart.

Coworking is Good for Mental Health

Coworking has many business benefits including networking opportunities, increased productivity and free coffee. However, there are also a number of mental and physical benefits that are often overlooked.

Coworking facilities provide you with the space to separate life and work, which works to reduce overall stress and burnout. As business owners, freelancers and remote workers we are all guilty of blending life and work together. You often end up taking all the stress of working home with you and will find it hard to relax. Coworking communities like 3Mile, provide you with a calm, flexible, productive environment to focus on work and work alone.

Coworking facilities such as 3Mile aren’t just about providing you with the space to work, it also has added social benefits. A fundamental part of coworking is socialisation and community. In our current climate, this is particularly important for remote workers and solopreneurs. Networking, collaboration, and a chat over a coffee all positively influence your mental health and reduce the loneliness of working in isolation.

Facilities Reminder

Reminder we have 2 meeting rooms and the studio available to book. This is included in a 3Mile membership but is also open to members of the public and community groups.

For more information head to: https://www.3mile.nz/book-a-meeting-room

In terms of the traffic light system, we're not required to operate under the vaccine passport scheme. However, you are required to scan in on arrival, maintain social distancing and good hygiene and gatherings will be restricted according to the guidance provided by the government.

Ka Pai Carterton

3Mile doesn’t just host individuals, freelancers and remote workers. We are also home to awesome groups such as Ka Pai Carterton. Ka Pai Carterton is a partnership between DIA and the Community of Carterton. You’ll often find CImone or Lucy working out of 3Mile supporting the board of 11 who also meet in the space regularly.

Ka Pai Cartertons main aim is to help groups that work, live, play, gather in Carterton by providing connections, funding, planning and support. This is achieved through extensive consultation with the Carterton Community. 3Mile has provided a perfect backdrop for community engagement.

Lucy and Cimone love being part of the 3Mile community and participating in community events. The facilities at 3Miel have allowed them to facilitate meetings ranging from one-on-one to up to 40 people at the time. They love being able to use the kitchen facilities to provide kai during these sessions.

 Holiday Hours

3Mile will be closed to the public and ten-trip holders from the 17th of December until Monday 10th January. During this time key-holders will be able to access the space on their normal days (or nights), however, there will be no hosts for the space so you will be responsible for scanning in and tidying up after yourself.

If you would like to upgrade your membership so you can access 3Mile over the holiday period sign up quickly and get in touch via hello@3mile.nz

As the 17th of December is the last day the space will be hosted we will be celebrating all day long! Beverages and nibbles will be provided so drop in and join us for one final catch up before the year is over.
